Claims exist on the internet at several various and distributed sites, that lay claim that Francis Marion Edens, born 21 Jan 1826 in McMinnville, McMinn County, Tennessee and died 3 May 1903 in Granbury, Hood County, Texas, was a Confederate veteran, specifically with the 1st Tennessee Infantry Regiment, Company E. It is beyond reasonable doubt that this claim is not valid. The Francis Marion Edens that was in the 1st Tennessee Infantry was a different person and died in Moore County, Tennessee in 1912.
